THE COVID-19 CRISIS IS A CHILD RIGHTS CRISIS

Dear Partners and Friends of UNICEF,

We are pleased to share with you the first edition of our COVID-Diaries series on UNICEF’s response to the current Covid-19 pandemic in Niger.

Following the confirmation of the first positive case of COVID-19, UNICEF has been working closely with the Government and its partners to step up the response and prevent further proliferation of the COVID-19 virus in the country.

This edition provides important insights into the impact of the pandemic on children and highlights actions in the field of risk communication and community engagement, infection prevention and control, supply and logistics, epidemiological surveillance, and healthcare provision.

We hope that this series is of use to you and that we can continue to work together to help fulfill the rights of children. To enable periodic information updates and improved interaction, this series will be regularly updated and disseminated. I invite you to read these articles and look forward to receiving any feedback you may have.

Sincerely,

Dr. Félicité Tchibindat, UNICEF Representative in Niger
